Why does Continuum Church do outreach?

We can talk as much as we want, but nothing really changes in our world, or in ourselves, until we DO something. We search for ways to contribute to something more substantial than what we can accomplish on our own. We choose to be hopeful people, and that means we choose to keep working for good.

How does Continuum Church select its projects?

We select projects that align with our core values of being rooted, open, safe, interactive, cooperative, motivated, and experimental. We aim to accomplish something tangible while enjoying each other’s company. We are not afraid to try new ideas.

How does Continuum Church select its partners?

We partner with organizations as their projects align with our core values. We work with people from across the religious spectrum, as well as with people claiming no faith at all. We take partnership seriously and choose partners thoughtfully. Because we do not own the corner on the market of goodness and compassion, we join with many different partners who are also working to fix our world’s problems.

What if I do not have any special skills?

We design outreaches to be as open as possible, opting for projects that do not require specialized knowledge or skills. We value people’s time and effort and will teach them what they need to know when they arrive for the project.

May I bring my children?

Unless we have announced otherwise, kids are welcome at outreach events. We believe that there is a place for everyone to work in the world, and we aim to provide activities suitable for children. As long as you are willing to supervise and work with your kids, they are invited. We do not provide child care at our outreach events.

May I bring friends who do not attend Continuum Church on Sundays?

Definitely! Many people enjoy helping others, even if they are uninterested in attending church on Sunday morning. Your friends who feel that way are welcome at our events. We hope that people will feel comfortable coming to any Continuum Church environment: Sunday gatherings, weeknight groups, and outreach projects.

What types of projects has Continuum completed in the past?

We have participated in many different events: home repair, trash removal, blanket collection, letter writing, food collection, neighborhood agency workdays, the Central Ohio AIDS Walk, the Good Neighbors Picnic for the Homeless, and the Weinland Park Neighborhood Festival. The list continues to grow.

Is it okay if I can participate only occasionally?

Sure! You are welcome any time you can make it. There is no need to feel guilty if you cannot show up or if a particular event makes you uncomfortable. We want to tap into the “want to” feeling instead of the “have to” feeling.
