involvement

Continuum Church provides three ways to get involved. These three environments are designed to help us connect with God, with each other, and with our community. To keep it easy to remember, we’ve called this basic strategy Stop, Drop, and Roll.

Stop: gatherings

Every Sunday we get together at 10:30 a.m. in the Gateway Film Center to interrupt the frantic pace of life. This weekly moment of slowing down is an entrance into the ancient practice of taking a Sabbath. We pause to focus our attention and invite hope into our lives. Our central practice involves listening to the message in the Christian Bible and to the comments made by one another. In this restorative setting, many of us experience God’s presence.

Drop: groups

Twice a month, groups of about ten people meet in homes around the Columbus area to connect with one another. For a few minutes, we drop the baggage that we’ve been carrying and enter into a space designed for fresh insight. As always, the first rule of Continuum Church applies: you don’t have to do anything that you don’t want to do. Though everyone is given the opportunity to get involved, no one is pointed out or made to speak up. The conversation happens naturally.

Roll: outreaches

Each month we offer an opportunity to get out into our community and put our beliefs into action. Our roll activities provide tangible help to people fighting both local and global injustice. Instead of reinventing the wheel, we collaborate with others who are already in the fight. Ranging from direct assistance to issue advocacy, we find ways for people on both the left and the right to join forces. It’s not our job to save the world. But it is our calling to leave it a better place.
